Skin care tips through the seasonshome > skin care > seasonal skin careEach year our skin faces the dramatic climate changes that each new season brings. Before we realize it, summer warmth turns into cooler temperatures and our skin suffers from these changes.
In the summer, the hot weather and humidity can age our skin. Over exposure to the sun can cause premature wrinkling and lines in our skin, not to mention the possibility of developing life threatening skin cancer. We find ourselves outside often, enjoying the warmth and sun, but we must remember that prolonged exposure outdoors is not good for our skin. We can help to fight the negative effects of the sun by wearing a strong sunscreen whenever we are outside, and avoiding the sun's rays during their strongest and most damaging time, which is usually between ten in the morning and two in the afternoon. Winter poses two problems for our skin. The excessive cold takes away the moisture from our skin, and spending time indoors with dry heat will also dehydrate our skin. So it is very important to moisturize during the winter months. You can easily make moisturizing a habit if you do it at the same time every day. It is best to moisturize when your skin is damp, such as when you are just out of the shower or bath. For some people, moisturizers can cause pores to become blocked and result in acne. If this is a problem for you, it's best to use a light conditioner and exfoliate at least once a week. While weather conditions can be troublesome for skin, you can take these precautions and keep your skin healthy during any kind of weather. Other useful articles on skin care include: |
