Only as recently as just a few years ago there were significantly less options and many clientele may have found themselves avoiding treatment or at least postponing it until the problem compounds itself. The most modern and least invasive procedure available is the Invisalign system. This offers the prospective client an option of using a progressive series of clear retainer type devices that gradually bring the teeth back into line. It is very difficult for other people to detect that a client is in treatment and the retainers are less invasive in the mouth than older bracket systems which can be abusive to the insides of the mouth and lips. The treatment lasts between 6 months and one year which can be a bit faster than bracket treatment. The overall cost is similar to that of traditional braces. Another treatment available for orthodontic alignment is instant orthodontics. This technology allows uneven teeth to be reshaped and laminated with modern ceramics. This treatment offers almost instant returns on minor orthodontic problems such as gaps and overcrowding. It is usually a pain free option that uses some local anesthetic work. Sometimes a combination of traditional dentistry brackets in addition to instant orthodontics is advisable. Traditional orthodontic dentistry incorporates metal brackets affixed to the teeth, elastic bands and wires. There is an alternative to the metal in the form of ceramic brackets. This option reduces the visibility of the treatment which is often times more desirable or orthodontic clientele. According to each persons particular needs the treatment time can be anywhere from six to eighteen months. Lastly, there is the option of removable orthodontics. This treatment requires the patient to wear a removable retainer device that is often times referred to as "head gear". This is a case sensitive treatment option.
