What to make of Child Multi Vitamins

home > child health > child multi vitamins

There is no question that growing babies and children require a tremendous amount of food intake and nutrients to insure that they are well prepared for the growth into adulthood that they are about to undertake.

Parents will be mindful to provide the nutrients in as many whole foods as possible but even adults have a difficult time making the necessary daily requirements for themselves in their own menus let alone their incredibly fast growing children's diets.

And parents may ask themselves which supplements, if any, they should be supplying their children with to insure their healthy development.

Children need a vast amount of nutrition while they grow and a multi-vitamin is probably the best way to assist a child's diet for the better.

There are just too many nutrients that growing children can't seem to get enough of and nutrients often work best during the bodies' development in conjunction with a team of other vitamins and minerals.

To help narrow the field of what a child absolutely needs there is a list of nutrients for parents to refer to but can largely be remembered as the first four letters of the alphabet as a quick reference guide.

Vitamin A is necessary for growth, develops the eyes and skin and fights off infections. Vitamin A can be found naturally in cheese, eggs, and fish, yellow and green vegetables.

The B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12) are essential for releasing the energies from the whole foods we eat in addition to maintaining healthy body systems such as the skin, nerves and blood. These vitamins can be found largely in leafy vegetables and dairy products.

Folic acid is very important for healthy blood and maintaining the circulatory system.

And the last two essential nutrients for children's development are Calcium (or vitamin C) and vitamin D. These nutrients work in conjunction with each other and are important for development of the skeletal system as well as body development.

Any multivitamin for children that supplies these nutrients is going to be more than enough in conjunction with a healthy diet and eating 3 meals a day to insure a child's nutritional health.
